I recently had to upgrade my video card and everything went well but then all the sudden all my USB ports on the rear went dead. Only my two ports on the front of the PC are working. I checked out ASUS's site and they talk about uninstalling the drivers. Well I tried but if I do theat I have no USB to shut the PC down. I'm just looking for any help at all. Thanks

I'm not sure if this is what you want, but you can shut the PC down by pressing the power button.

If you press it briefly, you get a normal shutdown. (On a desktop PC, at least. Laptops may differ.) The USB drivers should re-install when Windows starts up again.

Holding the power button down will give you a forced shutdown. That's usually unwanted.

Well that didn't work but thanks for sharing. I could contact ASUS and send it back but I decided to just buy a 10 port USB hub. I still have the two 3.0 port on the front so I'll just plug the hub into one of them and velcro the hub to the side of the PC and truck on.
Thanks for all the answers.

Have you tried to reinstall Windows 11? Sometimes that works when all else fails. If that doesn't help then you must have a hardware problem. In that case you might consider an RMA for the motherboard if it is still in warranty.

I had a power problem with my ASUS laptop. Testing it showed it had to be a hardware problem. Checking the warranty I discovered I only has 7 days left so had no choice but to RMA it back to ASUS ASAP. I created the RMA on Sept. 29 and had it back on Oct. 10. I am glad I didn't hesitate because it would have cost me a lot of money if I had to pay for the repair. BTW, they replaced the motherboard and power adapter.

MisterEd, I have not tried to reinstall Windows but I certainly will. My BIOS shows all the USB Ports but Device Managers doesn't. So I'll try reinstalling Win 11 and see what it does.
The motherboard is still under warranty but I really don't want to have to pull it out to send it back. I just replace the 3070Ti with a 4070 because it stopped working and I thing I'm sending it back once I verify it is dead. But the M/B will be a really pain to take out and return. But I'll concider it. Thanks

If you had the CPU fail and now the USB ports I truly think you have a bad motherboard and should reinstall the old CPU and RMA it back as soon as you can. If it's still under warranty you should let them fix it.

NO sorry it was the GPU not the CPU that failed. And I'm still debating sending it back, I just hate having to completely rebuild the PC.

Sorry, my mistake. I still stand by my suggestion to send it back. One GPU failed and you're now having problem with the USB ports. Unless you know for sure the reason why the old GPU failed I still suspect the motherboard.

Part of building a system is installing drivers. That said, have you installed the chipset (motherboard) drivers?

Additionally, if none of the rear USB ports are working and the motherboard is returnable, I would HIGHLY suggest you do so as that's a clear indicator the board is faulty. Again, provided you installed the motherboard drivers and the ports still don't work.

Good luck.

I hear ya. All the drivers were installed and updated. I had a BOSD issues before and I had to install win 10 then reinstall win 11 once I did I updated all the drivers. Everything was fine, working beautifully. Then aftrer a shutdown and reatart no USB ports on the rear. I have a new MB coming in for another build once I get it built I'll look into doing a RMA. Thanks.
