At some point during the resolution of some BSOD driver issues which are detailed here: BSOD: How does one run the V2 Log Collector on the BSOD PC?, I noticed that my recent files list has disappeared. More correctly the recent files list for files opened before the last restart has disappeared. The recent files list builds as they are opened. The list can be viewed in Quick Access. Also, %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\ shows the recent files too. The list of files then vanishes on reboot.
Here are my settings:

Pinned items on jump lists remain but the recent files disappear. Interestingly the recent files in an Excel jump list reappear if I open an existing Excel file.
