This tutorial will show you how to remove a linked mobile device (phone) from your Microsoft account in Windows 11.

You can link and manage your mobile devices directly from your PC. This link between your Android device and PC provides instant access to your mobile device with just a few simple steps.

You used to have to sign out of the Link to Windows app on your Android phone to unlink it from your Microsoft account.

Starting with Cross Device Experience Host version 1.25022.55.0, you can now remove mobile devices from your Microsoft account directly in the Manage mobile devices dialog.

Removing a mobile device will remove it from all your device lists.

Note: The mobile device might appear in Windows devices and Microsoft products and services. If it still appears, you'll need to remove it there.

Here's How:

1 Open Settings (Win+I).

2 Click/tap on Bluetooth & devices on the left side, and click/tap on Mobile devices on the right side. (see screenshot below)

3 Click/tap on the Manage devices button. (see screenshot below)

The Manage devices button will be disabled and grayed out if Allow this PC to access your mobile devices is not turned on.

4 If you have more than one added mobile device, expand open the mobile device (ex: "Brink S23+") you want to remove, and click/tap on Remove. (see screenshot below)

5 Click/tap on Remove to confirm. (see screenshot below)

6 Normally this mobile device will now be removed from your Microsoft account, but this remove feature appears to not be fully working yet with a Failed to remove this device. Try again later. message. (see screenshot below)

That's it,

It seems there are still a lot of issues with PhoneLink, both on Windows and Mobile end. Once it starts to work, it works well, but until then, no matter how many valid instructions one uses, nothing happens or something completely random stuff happens. This has been going on since they first implemented this feature.

Example: Just a moment ago, I tried to connect my PC and my Phone. Could not connect. On the phone, it thought it is not connected to internet, while on the PC app, I could not reset anything. After tens of tries, suddenly the apps fully reset on both devices and there was hope again. After multiple re-logins, it started to work again.

It seems this feature relies heavily on some server parts, that were out of order and then got reset. Now I can use this feature normally again. Can add and remove devices, connect to multiple PCs etc... and all the implemented features work great.

Hello, :alien:

It appears this Remove feature is still a work in progress and not fully working yet.
