Solved Removing MS365 apps components?

Before I was running MS365 apps on my PC, I used to be running older versions of Office like 2016, and I would go to the Control Panel and click on Change, and it would give me options to Add/Remove office components.

But with MS365 apps, it just gives me an option to either perform a Quick Repair or Online Repair.

For example, if I want to just Uninstall OneNote and Publisher only, how can I remove those from MS365?

Do I need to go to config.office.com and just Uncheck OneNote and Publisher (Save XML file) and then reinstall MS365 again?

With subscription and non-subscription versions of Office, you can't custom select which Office apps you want to install. However, you can delete the shortcuts for the apps you don't plan to use.

If you have found a different rout, you could try.

I am not sure that config.office.com is what you think it is, but have a go.

If I select Uninstall by right clicking on those apps from the Start Menu, will this mean that those apps are just a shortcut and will be only uninstalled as a shortcut only?

lt may very possibly uninstall M365. I don’t know, try it? I am sure it will give you some warning before it proceeds.

Can you right click and delete the icons?

Do I need to go to config.office.com and just Uncheck OneNote and Publisher (Save XML file) and then reinstall MS365 again?

The short answer is yes. I was able to reinstall MS365 with only Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook using the following configuration file. Hope this helps.

I like the way you added the steps to your xml file. I saved the steps separately into notepad. Did you add the steps manually or was it all automated?

What type of Microsoft365 licence are you using to install this?

Would you mind sharing the actual .XML file as an attachment here? If it won't let you, rename it as a .TXT file.

Or, copy all of the text and paste it into a codeblock. Either way would work.

Here is the code I used. I'm using a Microsoft 365 personal license.

Office365Configuration.xml
<!-- STEP 1: Install MS Office Deployment Tool and this .xml file into folder C:\Office365
STEP 2: To download Microsoft 365 source files to C:\Office365, run the following command from C:\Office365;
or go to admin cmd and type "cd c:\Office365\", then enter the command:
'setup.exe /download Office365configuration.xml'
STEP 3: To install Microsoft 365, run the following command from C:\Office365;
or go to admin cmd and type "cd c:\Office365\", then enter the command:
'setup.exe /configure Office365configuration.xml'
-->

<Configuration ID="1c0ebb43-629f-4b94-9f07-813f79b7680a">

Thank you!

Here is the code in a code block for easy copying, with minor editing (consistent folder and file name capitalization is all I changed):

XML:
Office365Configuration.xml
<!--STEP 1: Install MS Office Deployment Tool and this .xml file into folder C:\Office365
    STEP 2: To download Microsoft 365 source files to C:\Office365, run the following command from C:\Office365;
    or go to admin cmd and type "cd C:\Office365\", then enter the command:
    'setup.exe /download Office365Configuration.xml'
    STEP 3: To install Microsoft 365, run the following command from C:\Office365;
    or go to admin cmd and type "cd C:\Office365\", then enter the command:
    'setup.exe /configure Office365Configuration.xml'
    -->

<Configuration ID="1c0ebb43-629f-4b94-9f07-813f79b7680a">
  <Add OfficeClientEdition="64" Channel="Current" SourcePath="C:\Office365" AllowCdnFallback="FALSE">
    <Product ID="O365HomePremRetail">
      <Language ID="en-us" />
      <ExcludeApp ID="Access" />
      <ExcludeApp ID="Groove" />
      <ExcludeApp ID="Lync" />
      <ExcludeApp ID="OneDrive" />
      <ExcludeApp ID="OneNote" />
      <ExcludeApp ID="Publisher" />
      <ExcludeApp ID="Teams" />
    </Product>
  </Add>
  <Updates Enabled="FALSE" />
  <RemoveMSI />
  <Display Level="Full" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
</Configuration>

And here is the file itself, with the code exactly as above (rename from .txt to .xml):
