I need to know if Rufus really disable BitLocker because i hate BitLocker when i do clean install Windows 11 24H2.

Without Rufus

When installing Windows 11, wait for the Region selection (OOBE).

Region & Country Screen

  • On the Region and country screen, press Shift + F10.
  • A command prompt will open. Type:
    • reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\BitLocker /v PreventDeviceEncryption /d 1 /t REG_DWORD /f
  • Press Enter.
  • Now type exit or simply close the command prompt.
  • Continue installing Windows 11 as usual. It won't encrypt your drive.

You get this window when you run Rufus - you choose any / none as suits your francy.

I think they want to know if it works. I suppose it does, I've never had Bitlocker activated upon install. But that could be due to the fact my computer was built when Abe Lincoln was POTUS

To quote Bill "This is much ado about nothing".

You drive is not actually encrypted after installation. It is more accurate to call it device encryption ready.

Just run device encryption (search for it) and simply turn it off.
