Is the SD card write protected? The little slide switch on one edge?

I did forget to check that but with the switch either way I get the same result.

If it's happened on two computers then it sounds as if the card is corrupted beyond repair.

Failure to write [including formatting] is probably the most common symptom of a defective SD card.
Its existing contents might remain readable for a decade.

Pretty sure it is shot. Too bad I can't even read it. No real big deal. I don't keep important stuff on an sd card anyway. It was probably a few videos.

Probably bust if you can't write to it. My SanDisk SD card failed that way. I claimed on their 'lifetime warranty' but was required to return the SD card containing all my data I couldn't delete! I declined and haven't bought a SanDisk product since.

Steve,

Probably too late now but when I had to return an SD card / USB memory stick, I got their agreement to let me drill holes through it first.
[They do not want it back so they can repair it. They want it back to stop people cheating them with false claims.]

All the best,
Denis
