It seems my original user went bad. I can login and get a black screen and a mouse only. So I recall making another user.
But lately the PC is defaulting to the bad user for login with pin number.
I managed to select other user somehow, but it gives me lots of trouble logging in, and when I just now managed it, windows said password had expired and had to change, so I did and it took me in.
BUT when I go to accounts in system, it just shows one account, should it also show scott717?
In the disk, under users, there are 2, the bad sdown, and the good scott717

I ant to simply delete sdown completely, how do i do this?

showing one user?

System One

  • OS
    windows 11
    Computer type
    PC/Desktop
    Manufacturer/Model
some kind of old ASUS MB
    CPU
    old AMD B95
    Motherboard
    ASUS
    Memory
    8gb
    Hard Drives
    ssd WD 500 gb

Following these things above, I used control panel to supposedly delete the account, AND its files.
I then reboot PC and only see the scott717 to login with password.
Going to users in filemanger, it still shows 'sdown' folder, so I try deleting. it wants admin privileges, so I so ok, it deletes 3gb of stuff, but quits on network something, I click cancel, the folder is still there but I suppose has invisible files. I can not fully delete sdown folder.

I then create another user as an admin, log out then login into new account using password, but it does not appear in the folder where sdown and scott717 are. Why is that?

I guess I don't know exactly what I am doing wrong. At least the supposedly BAD user account is no longer showing at login.

I checked my online MS account and that is still ok, showing the 5PC's I have. At least I did not delete that accidently yet.

Would be good to know more info. E.g. Your full computer model and how old it is. Also what Windows build have you installed?
You can try running the batch file attched.
If that doesn't work then try an in-place upgrade to repair your Windows OS.

Running that batch file now, will say what it did. So far SFC found corrupted files and fixed them. Check health said store is ok or intact or something, and restore health is doing something now.

Thanks for batch file commands, screen shots show it found some corrupted files.
Still have 'sdown' left behind as a folder in users. I have not looked into anymore for now.

You can add 'Take Ownership' to your riight-click context menu. See Step 2 in the link: - Add Take Ownership to Context Menu in Windows 11 Tutorial
Be warned - Do not take ownership of anything that is owned by the Windows OS or it could mess up your computer. You should be okay doing this with user files/documents/photos etc.
In this case you say the folder 'sdown' is a 'bad' user so it should be okay to take ownership of that.

After doing this you should be able to right-click on the folder 'sdown' and then select 'Take Ownership'. This will give you ownership of the folder and you should then be able to delete the folder.

If my post #3 doesn't work then I am afraid this is your next option. It is not as easy as running that batch file. You should not lose any user files but be sure to select 'keep files' option.

@sdowney717 - I see you have marked this as ''Solved' but your post #5 suggests you need to look at my posts #6 and #7.
It would be good to know you are sorted now or not.
