Set charge to 80% not in menu

Surface UEFI Enable Battery Limit = ON

Have looked in Power and Battery. Able to set Battery Saver. But nothing mentioning
"Battery Charge Threshold."

Am thinking only resort is to reinstall Win 11.

Welcome to Eleven Forum.

The 'Battery Limit' and 'Battery Smart Charging' are apparently two quite separate things. The limit you have turned on in UEFI is set at 50%. The Smart Charging limit of 80% is always active with nothing for you to see or set. It kicks in when you use your Surface while plugged in for prolonged periods.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

Thanks glasskuter and Bree. After several days of jerking around trying to keep this thing charging below 80%, Bree, your info was not published anywhere but here. Hence, my looking, trying posted literature that occasionally was correct. The last time I charged the Pro 9 it charged to 99%. Am plugging it in now to fully charge and to see what happens. Will also go into uefi and reset that switch back to off.

Leave it plugged in. MS say that the Smart Charging 80% limit will turn on after being 'plugged in for prolonged periods' - but they don't say how long 'prolonged' means. Obviously last time you charged it wasn't long enough. I guess that with more use it should eventually settle to 80% charged.

It's nicely charged over night to 100%.
I'll plug it back in so as you say, it may eventually stop charging at 80%.

Hi, my surface start smart charging after 12 day continuously plugged in. That is prolonged time by Microsoft I think...heh
But I would like to set it by some settings. What do you think is it possible?
