windows 11
Hi - i'm Andy and new to windows 11.
I need to attach a lot of files in emails. I need to scroll through an alphabetical list so I can find them. The date is irrelevent to me but in the file attachment window all files are listed as Today, Yesterday, earlier in the week etc. This is not helpful as i want to look a an alphabetical list as i don't know the file date or when it was saved.
Ive tried to look for a setting I can change in the pop up file attachment window but cant find one

Is it possible in some way to change the file attach dialogue to list files in alphabetical order - i'm finding it impossible to work

Any help would be gratefully appreciated

Grouping has to be switched off.

Please see this topic for an explanation how to do that:

This is a useful answer as well:

Edit:
Just now I noted that you have this problem especially when the attachment window is opened.
I tried to switch my attachment window so, that I had the same problem as you have, but failed to do so: the attachment window has no grouping anymore (I remember having seen it in the past, but don't know what I did to make it undone).

Maybe the second answer brings you the solution. Otherwise: don't hesitate to report it here, there certainly are members here who know exactly how to do it for the attachment window..

Edit 2:
Method as shown in the second link does indeed switch on or off grouping in attachment windows!

As @Kees has suggested: Right-mouse click on a file in the attachment window, and then select "Group by" and select "<none>" from the drop-down lists.

I understand and yes it works - i needed to put it in detailed view to find the right place to click but yes its works perfectly, although you do have to re apply i every time. Its an excellent work around. Thank you

Assuming the attachments were coming from the Downloads folder, if you set grouping off for folder type Downloads using WinSetView, you will never see grouping in any view of Downloads again. If it's a different folder, please let me know and also please state what email software you're using.
