Trying to install W11 on a new SSD. New SSD is replacing failed System SSD on a PC that had been running latest version of W11 just fine. Attempted to install from latest installation media downloaded from Microsoft website, and it tells me PC does not meet specs? Huh? It was doing just fine on same W11 version before SSD failed. What gives?
Suggestions?
Thank you.

Hello @geoanik and welcome to ElevenForum.

There are work-arounds for installing Windows 11 on unsupported hardware.
It seems like those work-arounds might have been used for the previous Windows 11 install.

Now, since you're reinstalling, you'd need to use those work-arounds to be able to install Windows 11?
Without knowing what hardware you have, it's difficult to help with this issue.

Many of the various work-arounds can be found in this thread...

But, without knowing what hardware we're discussing... it's hard to recommend the correct work-around.

RUFUS may work for you, as it has built in work-arounds...

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
I used RUFUS and install was successful. But I was still puzzled as to why normal install didn't work since it did before. Turned out TPM 2.0 was disabled in bios. I don't recall ever having disabled it, but guess I did, or something else happened. In my PC's bios, switch is sort of deep in advanced menu, and is referred to as PTT. I had gone looking for it, but forgot to look for PTT instead of TPM-something.

Also, just FYI to others who may be scratching their heads like I was: Read that 8GB USB was good enough for installation files. I used 16GB, and it ran out of space. (Formatted both before using.) 128GB worked.

Thanks for the reply.

You might want to do another fresh install now you have TPM enabled. See @Bree 's post in the supplied link by @Ghot

I'd be curious to know, the brand name of the SSD that failed.
I've been using SSD's now for several years, and I have many of them, and the only one that ever failed was my very first one from "PNY". They refused to help me, so I bought a "Crucial" SSD and never looked back.
Now I have at least six Crucial SSD's running in desktops and Laptops alike. Never a problem.
TM
PS: Every OS I install has been "Rufusized" because all my equipment is way too old to meet MS's specifications.

Samsung 960 Pro 1TB from about 5 years ago. Went through all the troubleshooting steps before replacing, so pretty sure it was not something else. Bios and a partition manager app unable to see it. New drive flew right up. Replacement 980 Pro at $60 quite at bit cheaper than original. :-)
