stopping Microsoft compatibility telemetry
Can anyone tell me how on earth I can permanently shut down the Microsoft compatibility telemetry program ?
Ive tried disabling the scheduler for it, a registry change and various other methods but nothing ever works, it just restarts itself at random times

I am using the
O&O Shutup 10+ (Free) Antispy tool and I am never disturbed by Microsoft telemetry whatsoever.
All settings are reversable and will be done in registry entries or (may be) the scheduler.
If wished so you can save your O&O settings to a file, give it a name according date and time.

I verified that I do have it in task scheduler. I run PRO so that might make a difference.

JFYI
It's common when we tweak Windows that a subsequent Windows update will reverse the tweak.
That's just one more reason to disable (Hard Block) Windows Updates. That's a lot better than never being able to Tweak your Windows.
Take note, that complaints about problems with Windows updates, run into the thousands.
Once I get the first round of updates, to get my drivers updates, after an install, I turn Windows updates OFF and never look back.
There is a really neat program that turns off Windows Updates, and gives you the option to turn them back ON if you ever want to.
