Love Eudora 7.1.0.9 been using it for more years than I can remember. I seem to have no major problems with Windows 11. Just wonder if anyone can tell me if they use imap. With me it only seems to work with pop. Would be great if I could use imap and then it will sync with my android phone and tablet. Thank you

Eudora 7.1 POP3 and Tin.it: I can't send mail. help!!

Hi, I use Eudora 7.1 for POP3 mail and for a while I can't send mail. I get an error. Don't ask me to change Eudora because I can't. Up until a month ago I could do everything, now I can only receive mail but not send it. Can you please check if my configuration is correct? Thank you!

If it’s a Microsoft email address I’d say you’re out of luck, but then again maybe it isn’t as you’re able to use POP

Microsoft are only allowing us to add Microsoft email addresses to Email apps that have 2Factor methods now.

Apart from that, wasn’t it last updated in 2007?

Thanks for that. It's a bigpond email address and works fine with the phone and tablet on their email programs but Eudora doesn't seem to like IMAP. I think I updated back in 2007

Outgoing server details

  • Outgoing server port: 465 (recommended) or 587
  • SMTP authentication: On
  • Encrypted connection: SSL/TLS on port 465 (recommended) or STARTTLS on port 587
Username & Password

  • Username: Your Telstra email address - ending in ‘@bigpond.com’, ‘@bigpond.net.au’ or ‘@telstra.com.’
  • Password: Your Telstra email account password - REMEMBER it’s case sensitive.

  • Make sure ‘Outgoing server requires authentication' is ticked.

Apparently there is a Eudora 8.0.0.9 beta that is available around the net that apparently works for some people that I read.
But like its predecessor, probably hasn’t been updated for years

The Hermes version is the same, not updated for years but again, works for some people.
I read somewhere that if you donate, you can get a higher version of it but where or how I don’t know. And maybe if you donate you’ll get nothing.
Anything that hasn’t been updated for as long as these apps is always associated with a risk.

I should add, that I know IMAP with Bigpond works as I have it setup in the Windows Outlook App
And classic Outlook from Office 2021 Pro.

What exactly is happening when you try to use it?

Well you like using Eudora and we’re all here to help.

If it’s sending and receiving OK without error but no mail is showing as a result, see if you’re able to change the default Root folder to INBOX (all caps) In Eudora. I don’t have it so I can’t help with that sorry.
