Mentioned a while back that I have an immaculate, little-used HP Spectre X360 13 which won't charge because neither of the usbc ports work. Soldering new ones isn't an option (and according to repair videos I've seen, it often shorts the motherboard anyway). For a while they would work a bit if you wiggled the cable around for an hour ......
Then they wouldn't work at all.
So having had a paperweight sitting there for quite a long time I'm deciding whether to
a) Sell it for spares and repairs and get rid - I don't need it
b) Finding another spares and repairs identical one and swapping the Motherboard
c) See question below
Question c) - is it actually possible to use a different Motherboard from a different HP Spectre X360? Sorry if that's a noddy question but I'm not that up on Motherboards. I mean obviously the ports would need to line up. I actually have a fully working, much older version of this laptop but it had a standard charger socket not usbc charging so ports wouldn't line up. But would an i5 instead of i7 motherboard do?
Then they wouldn't work at all.
