Hi community,

I like to update my desktop to windows 11 but I only have a i7 2600k. I read that martik777 achived this by cicumnavigating TPM2.0 and than installing windows 11.

So how ever had the same issue or knows how to proceed please let me know.

Thanks Otto20

Along with TPM 2.0 there is a CPU requirement. I believe your 2600k CPU is a 2nd Generation and the requirement is for an 8th Generation. I have a Core i7 4770 4th Gen. and it doesn't meet the specs.

I wondered whether the I7-2600k would be OK for 24H2. Yes, it supports SSE 4.2

I believe that P8Z68-V motherboard supports EFI, but I'm not certain.

The main thing is that there is SSE 4.2. Try ORM-Insider. This is an improved version of OfflineInsiderEnroll because, as far as I know, the developer stopped supporting it. I have an MBR disk partition table on my laptop. There is no UEFI, but everything is updated, and if you want to install a clean install, there is no problem. Download ORM-Insider from aleks242007 - ORM-Insider-2.9.8.

Thanks Guys will try and let you know.

But one more question before I start, the possibility to buy a new motherboard would be more recommandable ?

Of course. But the cost issue could be daunting, a new board means a new CPU and new RAM and possibly a new Add-in Video card. The Video seems to be more expensive than the board it goes on. There's all kinds of decent prices on new Desktops from 500USB to 1000USD unless one is a hard-core gamer then prices go up into 3 times that. My Desktop from back in Apr. '22 is a Dell Vostro 5890 with Win11 Pro, cost about 700USD then.

All you need is download the ISO from Microsoft, then create a USB flash drive with Rufus. It will ask you if you want to bypass compatibility check, select all options. Disconnected from the internet and load Setup from the USB to start upgrade. More details at the relevant thread.
