This old woman's gut has felt this was going to happen for a long time. Hopefully for all users of unsupported hardware, it doesn't pan out or at least will take MS a while to follow through..

Yeah, I heard about this in another thread by @Berton. I hope they just give up and replace the blocks with a simple warning screen. Unfortunately and realistically, this won't happen.

The article says "If the OS detects that your PC isn't up to scratch, it'll add a watermark warning you about it. Moreover, as announced on the support page, there's now this disclaimer...". Win10 was supposed to have a watermark if not activated, but in all the times I've installed it for testing without activating it I've only seen it the once. Even so, watermarks can be removed....

The disclaimer I have seen. It's not just on that support page, it's also in the 24H2 install media. I've seen it both for an in-place upgrade and a clean install. Doesn't stop you installing though, you only have to click 'Accept' to continue.

i just love the bit about 'manufacturers warranty' because chances are the the system is well out of date of any warranty if its not Win 11 compliant.
i get the distinct feeling Microsoft dont want you to use Windows but this just looks like more project fear.

I'm a gambling fool. Does anyone want to make a small wager....like a $1...(I said I was a fool, not a rich one)... that by the time support for Windows 10 ends, that incompatible machines already running 11 will be cut off from getting updates and the workarounds will all be plugged from any future install on incompatible hardware. I think MS will just do it with no official announcement or warning, all sneaky like.

well Microsoft have Windows 365 in the pipeline for business already with pricing.
so it wont take them much to hang personal computers high and dry.
it will be our way or the highway ..

that may very well be the case. im not really up to date with Windows as i spent 20 years using Linux before moving back to Win11.
but they seem now to have the whole package Office 365, Windows 365, AI etc etc and this is mainly aimed at business.
that is where the money is and i have a very strong feeling that if personal computer users dont comply they will be left to hang out and dry.
they are just my thoughts as i can see MS hasnt changed much from my very old beta testing days, its the same old same old.

i keep getting the feeling that Microsoft dont want you to use Windows. It's not so much that as they expect all Windows users to recognize Microsoft as their absolute master that must be obeyed without question in all computer related matters.

Kinda simple to be fair, Meet these requirements( Which lets be honest in 2024 should not be a problem) or use the other OS they offer. If none of those fit the bill then upgrade that old ass hardware to more modern standards, If they came out and said i couldn't use windows 11 due to my cpu not having some fancy instruction set or something...then hey thats on me for letting my hardware become so old it doesnt even work an OS officially, thats a bad state of affairs. My pc at the moment i consider a glorified web browser and the odd game dabbler, why? Because its damn old and showing its age.

They would be instantly invalid if Microsoft blocked them. At that point, we'd have to hope another bypass method may be found.

they are my thoughts as well and the restrictions placed upon the install requirements have not finished yet.
the end user will have to then decide what path they wish to take ..
