Starting about one week ago, access to certain websites has become very slow, links won't work, or access is simply unattainable. This is only true with certain websites but, unfortunately, it occurs with websites I frequently use. For example, with CNN, the page only partially fills and none of the links work. With some other sites, access is never obtained - the browser tab keeps waiting to connect. I have the latest Killer Ethernet and Wireless drivers installed on my Dell XPS 8950 desktop. I have no difficulty accessing these same websites on my IOS or Android tablets.

The problem presents itself with both Microsoft Edge and Firefox browsers. I have tried clearing everything in my recent history (browsing data and cookies) and this works with some of the affected sites, but not others. Speed tests indicate that my Telus internet connection speeds are not affected, and I have no difficulty pinging the sites involved. The Windows Network Troubleshooter does not find any problems.

I am clueless as to what might be causing these problems. I can't think of any programs I have installed since the issue appeared that could be responsible. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, by process of elimination - first:

Uninstall Killer Ethernet - and download the latest from here:

And install only the Driver - "without the Killer Software" - like so:

Also without killer Control Center:

Next press Win Key + R and copy/type to run services.msc
Scroll down to the following and disabling all - as in next screenshot:

All of above just to make sure it's not some one of Killer's features - is not actually killing the connection. Try it and see if it helped in anyway. If not, next - disable Avast - especially firewall: the Avast Firewall - Getting Started | Official Avast Support Again, just to make sure it's not acting out. Test said sites and see if it helps.

Do you use any DNS encryption? Cause this too can limit specific sites or be limited by the sites itself while access using said DNS. First thing first - you could try a flush of DNS cache:

Win Key + X open Terminal (Admin) and copy the following: ipconfig /flushdns
Try the sites again, if still no change - temporarily disable the DNS encryption entirely. Follow the next guide:

But instead of adding a DNS - just set it to Obtain DNS Server Automatically.

Next go to Firefox Settings and scroll down to DNS over HTTPS - here set it to Off (use your default internet resolver). Check said sites again - see if there's any improvement.

Success! I can't thank you enough for your assistance. I tried to find a solution for this issue for days without success. You provided the answer just over an hour after I posted my thread.

Best regards,
Allan

Thanks again. Not only has the issue been resolved, but access to websites also appears to be faster than it was before the issue arose.

Regards,
Allan
