Video card switched out and fan is running louder

Not sure if is the GPU fan or some other fan. Do video cards have fans?

We can't tell without at least a model number for your computer.
Large, separate vid cards generally have fans, because they get hot.

But your graphics card may be a part of your CPU. If so, they would be cooled by the CPU cooler.

For separate vid cards (not included in the CPU), these are generally the two kinds you will see.
Those with just a heatsink, and those with a heatsink and fans...

The more powerful vid cards will be the ones with the fans, because they will run much hotter.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you say... "video card switched out".
If you mean, you took your computer somewhere and got a new video card, then yes the fans might be louder.

Ok... it looks like your CPU has an IGP (Integrated Graphics part). That's a vid card inside the CPU.
I'm still not sure what you mean by... "video card switched out", in your topic title.

Did you do the switching out? Did DELL? Did a computer shop?

Computer fans... in the case, on the CPU or on the vid card, can be made to run faster or slower.
We need more details on what occurred between when the fan(s) were quieter and when they got louder.

This is your topic title. I'm still trying to understand the part in BOLD...

There are a few possibilities. I can't really know which it might be, because there are about three different configurations that your computer might have.

My "guess" is that when they replaced it, the saw more heat, and had to speed up the fan(s).
BUT... I would contact DELL and ask them... to be sure.

It could be something DELL did on purpose... or it might be something like insufficient thermal paste somewhere.

Any chance updating the BIOS would help?

I know Dell or any tech support do an auto mechanics' equivalent of throwing parts at a car issue without really diagnosing.

So annoying.

DELL computers are proprietary, (made using secrets only DELL knows).
That makes things hard enough on desktops and laptops. On all-in-one computers, it's almost impossible to know what they did.

The smartest move is to just call DELL and ask.
Tell them... "you guys just replaced my vid card, and now my fan(s) are louder" ???

They might say... "oh, that's normal".
Or... they might say... "oh no, bring it in immediately".

There's no way for "us" to know, on this forum... what they will say.
Very, very few people have all-in-one computers.

I'm guessing that this is your computer... ??

Iris Xe graphics are integrated graphics, but in to the CPU. Not a discrete graphics card. No separate fan for the non-existent graphics card.

Is the PC one of these? Inspiron 24-5400 Setup and Specifications | Dell US

Those are all-in-one computers, which basically are laptop parts built into a desktop monitor.

The CPU fan might be running more if the interior of the PC is loaded with dust, but that shouldn't be true if it was serviced recently.
