WD NAS Drive in Device Manager?

OS
Windows 11
Years ago, I had installed a WD MyCloud in my network and at the time I was running Windows 7 Pro. I then migrated over to Windows 10 via upgrade. I noticed a "Western Digital NAS" entry in device manager with "WDMyCloud" device listed under it. There is a driver "wd_mycloud_2_2_0.dll" that shows up in the properties for the WDMyCloud in Windows 10. This is not the case for my Windows 11 machine and there is no such entry in Device Manager. I am wondering if this driver was automatically installed back when I first put the WDMyCloud in my network as part of some WD Application. It's been a while and I don't know which application would have installed this device driver. The nice thing about this driver is that it actually shows a WDMyCloud icon in the Network as opposed to a generic Windows Server icon for all storage devices. Wondering if anyone on the forum encountered this and can shed some light.

I have a WD MyCloud drive on my NAS and don't show any issues. It will soon be going away as WD announced a security issue with its software and their latest doesn't work with that drive which [was set up back in 2015].

Look under "Network" not under "This PC" where you'll see different groups of network connected devices. There's one group called "storage".

Isn't that Storage Sense? I don't have a need for it on this Notebook yet. I didn't mention it but my NAS drives don't show in Device Manager in my computers, Win7, Win10 and Win11.

I may have found the answer to my question. I noticed a software called WD Smartware & WD Quick View that were supported with the older WDMyCloud and don't believe they are there anymore. It's likely the driver for the WD NAS was installed from that piece of software in Device Manager.

As WD notified me, there is a security issue with the software that came with my WD MyCloud and the software for the newer NAS drives won't work with the older one.

My WD MY Cloud Pro NAS (PR4100) shows in Device Manager, and the only WD software I have installed is WD Discovery.

@Berton

What Security Issue are you talking about? If you're talking OS 3, WD has been sending out emails for months telling users of their My Cloud NAS that they need to upgrade to OS 5 as OS 3 will be discontinued. Here's a copy of an email I got in 2020, but I was getting them as late as this year, even though I'd been updated to OS 5. This is from 2020...

On the other hand, they may also be alerting about WD Discovery as only the latest edition support Memory Integrity.

Yep, what I got said OS5 wouldn't support the MyCloud drives I had so they are gone now.
