So just for "insurance" I purchased a Windows Pro key for all of $14.97. But when I got my sales confirmation with the key, there was an instruction to use the key within 30 days? Is there something not entirely legit about this purchase? Should I just forget about this purchase?
I ended up giving the key to @SIW2 because they needed one that they could use soonish. I only bought it to try the purchase experience. Didn’t need it.

I think the takeaway here is; you can always get a cheap key, best to buy one when it’s needed. I think the only way you’re going to get total “insurance” when buying a key for a rainy day, is to buy one direct from Microsoft for the inflated price it is.
EDIT: But I recall Microsoft possibly having caveats also?

Do you know that for a fact? I could be wrong but my thoughts are that if needed, they will give you support for up to 30 days. After 30 days , you're on your own. I recently purchased a key for Win 11 24H2 Pro. For the price I was expecting it to be a MAK version. According to ShowKeyPlus it isn't.
After I posted I remembered that I don't have to be running 24H2 to check as long as I have the key. I just entered the key into ShowKeyPlus.and it shows as Rertail.
Edit: @Edwin, The email had a link that says Redeem. When I click on it, it took me to my account page. On the page it shows my key. Being a Retail key I going to stick to my idea that the 30 days is for support. Once the key is entered it gets activated on the MS server. I don't see how they can stop it from activating if not activated within the 30 day window.
Edit #2. Thinking about it some more I guess it could mean that one needs to get the key before the 30 days is up.
