Hello everyone,

Since two weeks ago, my WiFi has started to turning on and off every few hours. It even turn off completely when I put my laptop into sleep mode and then turn on again.
I have to restart it and usually takes more time than usual in doing this proccess. I formated my computer but my WiFi keeps turning on and off.

By the way, it is a 1 year laptop, AMD Ryzen 7 with 16 GB RAM and Windows 11.

Thanks in advance.

Open Device Manager, look under Network Adapters for your WiFi device.

Confirm if "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is enabled.

Uncheck this box to prevent Windows from powering down your WiFi when it's idle.

It seems that Windows 11 has updated since I formated, and my laptop resets my wifi faster than before, but it keeps turning off when it's sleeping.

Do you have other devices connected to wifi, such as a phone? My router does quite often lose its internet connection. You need to determine if the problem lies with your laptop or router.

My Android phone seems to keep a wifi link even when the Window laptop loses it.

WiFi is turning off because that is the S0 setting that's been made - Standby (S0 Low Power Idle) Network Disconnected
You can set it to stay on during S0 Modern standby easily - Enable or Disable Modern Standby Network Connectivity - ElevenForumTutorials
Do note that you have S0 Modern standby and it is not the same thing as sleep [S3 Sleep].

Best of luck,
Denis

It's late for both of us & I'm hungry but, if you want to discuss S0 Modern standby, just post back on Thursday and we can go into some of its characteristics.

All the best,
Denis
