Hi there,
Hopefully Someone can help me.
I can make network drives from my Qnap nas shared folders. Make them by ip address and shared folder.
I have access to these share with no errors. I can read write etc so there is no problem with these network drives.
But I can’t see the NAS in file explorer. Other PC are visible.
I have also a Win10 pc. This pc sees all the shared folders.
Is there something i can do to see the shared nas in network devices?
Thanks for any feedback
Leo

If you're already setting a static I.P for everything on your network. I would try the name instead.
In your file explorer, type in the address for the NAS. For example to get to my music folder on my NAS, I type this in.
\\Sino\music
As long as it sees your NAS this way, you can then map folders from there.

I have a QNAP NAS.

Under W11 what I do is go under NETWORK in File Explorer (turning on Network Sharing if necessary), and then under COMPUTER see the QNAP (If I go under STORAGE, I get the web access to control the NAS) and then I map the network drives from there. After they are mapped, they show up under File Explorer on THIS PC.

I hope this helps......

In all honesty, Windows has always sucked wind when it comes to local shares. Last resort would be to enable Developer mode then inside that check "make my PC discoverable" Reboot, then go to your network settings and add a user called "everyone" check advanced sharing and make sure it's set to read/write. It will work this way.

I have a Buffalo 8TB NAS drive running 2 x 4TB drives as RAID 1. I also use the default \\ nas\shared folders for the Mapping in the right-click of This PC. I can access the Public folder [my naming of it] from any computer Wired or Wireless by logging into it. I can see the drive and folder in File Explorer and Total Commander.

Mapping network drives to NAS in Windows 11 works perfectly. As @Motoman26 , @Berton , @Taliseian , and others including myself have done, just follow what's been stated above. It'll work! Map a network drive works great in Windows 11 for NAS (y)

Right click your start button > click "Run" > and type
Code:
shell:NetworkPlacesFolder
Give it a minute to load all connections. Does your NAS root display there?

In total commander i made a directory like this \\192.168.x.x\*.* and it shows all the shared folders from my nas.
I have now total access to all my nas shares.
For me this is a good solution. I am happy.
Thanks for all the advice and suggestions. I wish everyone a good and healthy 2025.
Kind regards from the Netherlands.
