For over three weeks now, the update will download, then try to install but fails every time. Anyone else having this difficulty?

Use Windows Update Troubleshooter.

  • Right-click on Start button and pick Settings
  • Go to System > Troubleshoot
  • Click on Other Troubleshooters > Windows Update and click Run button.

Download Windows updates manually.

  • Go to the official Microsoft update catalog;
  • Enter a specific update code, for example, KB4481031
  • Select the correct version and click Download
  • Click on the link and Windows will update your computer

Resetting the Windows Update components can usually solve these types of issues.

Hey Freebooter, In that step I believe you meant to say "click the link and the update will download. Then go to downloads folder and click on the update to manually install it." 🐵

That's an insider beta preview update. I'm no longer an insider and know little about it any more. Just more trouble than it was worth for me. If you were running the release build the only other suggestion I have would give would be a repair install Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade Tutorial
