Firstly, you need a separate licence to activate Home or Pro in a VM. So it depends what spare licence you have.
If you run unactivated, you will not be able to personalise the installation, in which case you might as well use Pro.
Secondly, if using Hyper-V, Home can only be used in basic mode, so you will not get any sound
If using Pro, you can use enhanced mode and get sound etc.

For me, when testing and using a VM, I don't usually keep them around forever. Therefore, rather than pay for a license, I use the 90 Day Enterprise Eval copy that MS provides for free. You can rearm that 3 times I think, which means it's good for an entire year.
