Hi, guys. I'm still on 21H2 of Windows 11. Given up updating that for now. Maybe the title of my thread is the issue. My bios also recognizes the new SSD. I can install Steam games on it. Cables are connected properly. It has a drive letter in File Explorer and Disk Management.

Anyone have ideas why it's not showing up in Device Manager?

Thanks.

if the SSD is not showing in the device manager that is normally driver related.
check the manufacturers site to see if drivers are available.

best of luck, Steve ..

Thanks, Steve. I did get the new drive to show up in device manager. It's split between SSD F and SSD G . I ran rufus to try and install windows 11 24H2. Upon boot, I was told the USB failed. Remove it. The USB is fine. I ran a scan on it. It's 32 GB.

Again, thanks. Don't think I want to overwrite 21H2 on my C drive.

Once Storage Spaces gets a hold of a drive, it pretty much gets "taken over" by Storage Spaces for lack of a better term. It's been a while since I experumented with it, but I recall similar behavior where the drive(s) would not show up in some places. But it turns out that this is normal behavior.

I have a system with roughly a dozen drives in it which is perfect for testing this sort of thing so if you are still having difficulty with this tomorrow (Saturday), let me know and I'll do some testing.

However, bottom line: If you are not planning on using that drive with Storage Spaces, and there is nothing that you need to keep on the drive, I would suggest opening it in Diskpart and perform a "clean" on that drive.

The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.
