Windows 24H2 unwanted changes

I am a long-time Windows user from before Windows 95. Until recently I've found the updates and upgrades to work fairly well.
However, with 24H2 I am beginning to think that the Windows people at Microsoft think they know best what we the users want and need. With this latest update I have had several features of Windows stop working. I have an HP printer on my LAN that Windows 11 Pro sometimes can't seem to find. I need to remount/remap a network storage device after every bootup. Some apps that used to get restarted at every login no longer do; I need to restart them manually. I'm not a happy camper. Any suggestions?

I think most of the major updates/feature updates have had their teething problems. I will be waiting a bit before installing 24H2 after one issue.

i will try to address some of your points if i can.
1. there are 2 sets of startup folders on win 11 24H2. one in the user account folder
C:\Users\XxXxX\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and one in ..
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

i place the shortcuts for any program i want started at run time in the 2nd startup folder as it is the common startup folder for the system.

2. i have my printer set up with static IP addressing in 24H2 it seems to improve the systems ability to find the printer when it is needed.

3. networking on 24H2 has changed quite a bit MS have increased to security requirements for the local network and network drives attached to the system.
if you check out the Tutorials available in the menu at the top of the forum i believe there is some help available there.

I’m yet to search the tutorials on the new changes to Remote and Network changes in 24H2. And the only person that has even remotely made any sense to me about them is Bree.
Maybe Bree could point to one of his posts about it.

There are many long time PC users on this forum. My PC use goes back to before Windows. All we had in the beginning was a 8086 running DOS. I still have a old Subnote laptop with Windows 3.1 on it. It has the entire OS, with Office, Turbo-C, GWBasic, and several other things. I can still use it with my radios. And, it all fits in a 40 MB hard drive.

I updated my laptop to Windows 11 24H2 on December 5. For me, it actually fixed something that I thought MS messed up during earlier updates. But other than that, I don't have any issues with 24H2. Since the update on December 5 there have been 5 more updates installed, plus 2 or 3 daily security updates. Have you installed all of the updates since you installed 24H2?

I did see, in another post, that the latest updates automatically turned on file encryption. However, that didn't happen to me. I don't use file encryption as I am the only user. It was not turned on by an update.
