Hey all. Just to put it out front, I work in IT and have over 30 years of experience with Windows and building my own machines. But this issue's confounding me.
Since I think around the time I upgraded to 24H2 (a couple of months ago now), I've been running into an issue where after a day or two of system uptime, I'm suddenly unable to access any files shares on my network. If I punch in a share, Explorer will just sit and spin indefinitely, never showing an error. A reboot fixes this, until it starts again. It only happens on one machine as well.
I've tracked this down to apparently, the Workstation service getting stuck. If I try to restart the service, it will get stuck on Stopping and eventually, show Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion and will then sit at Stopping forever until the system is rebooted. I do use Macrium Reflect to take nightly backups of this system to a file share and when this happens, I'll also find the Reflect process stuck as well. I can force terminate that, but it doesn't help either.
I'm really scratching my head on this one. This machine is long overdue for a reload (this install is approaching 6 years old and started on Windows 10), but it's worked well up until now and will be a multi-day process to reconfigure everything I use on the system. I'm hoping this can be resolved in the mean time, as I'm hoping to build a new machine in the next couple of months and will be doing a fresh install then anyway.
Anyone seen this or have any thoughts? Happy to provide any more info that's needed.
Cheers all!
