Solved Hi, I am surprised by this . could you guage the reason

Hi, porthos , yes.
This is a desktop? Can you just install a new internal network gigabit adapter that is Win 7 compatible?
USB ethernet adapters are hit-and-miss even with newer operating systems.

What brand and model is this computer?

Just to see if I'm following this correctly. When you connect your devices directly to the router they work. When you connect the devices to the switch and the switch to the router, two devices work and one doesn't. If I'm correct, is it always the same device that doesn't work or is it what ever device that is plugged into the one port on the switch that doesn't work? If it's whatever device is plugged into the one port then I suspect that the switch is defective.

Hi,parthos, there is no mention , of if the switch is compatible with windows 7. Normally plug and play devices work same in windows 7 and in windows 11. It is just a switch, which should work in both the operating system.

Hi, Just bought the switch and if found defective , can be replaced as it has a three years warranty period. can i try one lastl thing, reset the switch. there is a small hole in the switch, and I think it is for the purpose, but, plug and play devices seldom need a kind of reset.
it is the device, a pc, that is not working if i connect the ethernet jack to the switch, and work if i plug in to the router directly in the fe port. The switch unmanaged has the feature to support 10/100/1000 mbps traffic. So, it should be compatible with windows 7 also, which had a 100 mbps network adapter.

Hi, iko22, thank you very much for the detailed reply. i have not found any physical loop prevention switch. I also heard that unmanaged network switches have no such separate switches.

the next thing i will try to have a quality ethernet wire with jack.

The installation manual is here
which is TP-Link TL SG108 in the example.

If I click on the download for the TP-Link TL SG105 then it takes me directly to the TL SG108. So, I suppose the same manual for both product models. Then maybe the loop prevention switch is only for the TL SG108 model, and isn't actually available for the TL-SG105. Manual does not say.

If you are not seeing this switch, then maybe that is the explanation.

Yes, try the cable. Although, accordingly, if you use the wrong cable, then the network would work at the slower 10/100 Mbps speeds, unless the cable had gone really bad, in which case it might not work at all. You decide.

Hi, iko22, the cable is not at fault, but there is something that is still surprising me. the next thing to look at is number of lan,the router would support. Normally my service provider gives option of 5 ethernet jacks on the modem supplied by them. what puzzles me is, when the ethernet is connected to the router port, the light glows and i get private ip and i could get network connection. If i connect to the switch, i could not watch, except slow glowing of light and off of the light shown in the ehternet jack of switch connection. if i use ipconfig command, when connected to switch, media is shown as disconnected in ip. I could not come to the conclusion that the said switch port is defective, as ist works if another device is plugged on the same port.
i do not think that switch supports only two connections in five ports .
even no reply from tp lilnk .

A quick description, my LAN consists of a Wireless Router, a Switch, 5 computers, 1 NAS drive and 2 Printers, all connected by Ethernet cable. The Router has an Uplink port which attaches to my Wireless DSL Modem and has 4 Ethernet ports, the Switch is connected to one port and provides 8 Ethernet ports. The Wireless part of the LAN allows computers to access the printers and NAS. Then everything can access the Internet through the Modem. The Modem can be used on one computer without connection to the LAN/Router.

There is another part called a Hub that could be used instead of the Switch but it doesn't have the data-collision prevention of the Switch.

Computers presently connected are Win11, Win10, Win7 and Linux Mint, printers are LaserJet and OfficeJet.

Hi, Iko22 and berton, my problem has been fixed. I tried all sorts of connections and even checked the voltage etc. i swapped the ethernet wire jack in all ports and tried. Nothing worked. I even updated the drivers software, which again not fixed. Atlast, I went to official realtek.com and then select this link to download the drivers. It was a 2021 driver and after it was installed,I got the internet back to my old pc,which was not getting. Even tp link did not help me in anyway. the human chat support and hotline support were useless and vain.
Iko22, please tell me, how old drivers have worked when i connect to the router directly, and not when I connected to the network switch port lis still puzzling me. When i try to update drivers , i get the latest update drivers already installed message.
But, realtek has a new driver for the realtek pcle fe family controllers .
For each operation system, they are updating. I even tried realtek site. But got the page 500 error. the realtek real site is here. So any one who wants realtek drivers can download the network drivers from this page.
thanks iko, and all who has helped me in fixing.
