Thanks, TomCat. I just went to the releases pages and found this for my desired version:

I don't think I've ever seen a zipped version in the regular releases section. Is this a new thing?
Out of curiosity, I D/L'd the .zip file and unzipped it and it ran pefectly well. No installation required. Fully portable.
The only way I've seen before to get a portable version of Firefox is through PortableApps.com, and those come with a lot of baggage. Can I get a zipped version of 124.0 stable when it's released?

It's always been there, I checked back a few builds. What's interesting is what is offered to you (en-CA) and the en-GB. The choices are limited compared to what is offered in en_US. en_US has a lot more. They are all the parts and pieces.

But you made that shot in the Candidates section. I checked the Releases section, and en-US has no .zip file offered.

Yes, I did. That was your question. There is no 124.0 in the Releases section yet, just the Betas 1-9. There, also, are no zip files in the releases section, only Candidates, like this one.

All is as it should be. Nothing different anywhere.

Sorry. I wasn't clear. I was wondering whether the release version of 124.0 will offer a .zip version. I don't care if it's en-US. I'd happily take that if it were offered in a .zip format.

I have no idea. Kinda doubt it, though. Can't see Mozilla changing release methods. You could ask/request on their forum and feedback.

the always release binaries a day before the official release date is publicly announced.

Thanks, Melchior. I either didn't know that or knew it and had forgotten it. (At my age, it's hard to tell the difference.)

If you want it when it's posted on here... go here...
...this is where the "good stuff" comes from.



Scroll down to the version number, and click on it.
Then choose: "win64" on the next page.
Then choose: "en-US" (or whatever language you want).
Then choose: the .exe installer.

@Bree Thanks, Bree, but I knew that, and that's my usual practice when a new version is announced here (but with a twist). I download the installer .exe in Canuck English, then select it with 7-Zip and Extract the files, discard the installer.exe file, and copy the rest to my Firefox folder. Fast and easy, because the Mozilla installers are just 7-Zipped, and this method doesn't add any more unnecessary stuff to the registry. The operational files are already in the User AppData folder, so they're ready to go on the first run of the new version.
