That shouldn't come as a surprise since we don't buy Windows but the license to use it and Microsoft can make changes. I've seen some Version Upgrades and Build updates reset customizations back to default.

Come off it - the issue is about a tool known to create problems.

Why would MS block Firefox (they would be risking anti-trust legislation for sure)?

This is nothing new - happened a few times on W10. Occasionally a 3rd party tool caused issues and MS temporarily blocked it (often it was 3rd party developer raising a flag.

What is MS supposed to do - ignore issue, then get slagged off for something they have no control over.

So, no it is not wrong, but clearly the conservative (and hence correct) decision.

By informing you, you can make choice of deleting tool and upgrading, even reinstalling it again with minimal risk (if you make image backups) - the ball is in your court.

I think the real reason is that StartAllBack is being developed in a country that's at war at the moment.
Not that I really believe this program would be used by the government of that country and surely not for the things I do on my computer. But I could imagine that the government of the USA has worries about it and has ordered Microsoft to block the program.

The American Govt can’t order Microsoft to do anything, not without it being made into a huge controversial incident. And as Microsoft is a multinational corporation/enterprise, it would be pointless for the American Govt. to even try.

I’m sure it’s just a temporary issue, nothing to be concerned about.

I'm honestly surprised with how much they push edge they haven't been targeted for this again.

Multiple pop ups trying to get you to switch to edge, its insane. They might never go so far to block a browser, but they will do everything they can to trick the average user into using it.
