Random Freezing caused by Ctrl+F, Causes "Active Directory Domain" Pop-Up

When I press Control + F to search something on a wep page, sometimes windows/browser freezes, then this pop up comes up about 20 seconds later. 2nd day in a row it has happened.
It also brings up that "Find Computers" pop up at the same time as the error message, whatever the heck that is. Im just doing the normal Control+F to search within a webpage.

This is a new install? How did you install it? And which browser is it happening in - Edge only? Have you tried any other browsers?

Also, since it is a ThinkBook, it is possible that there is some sort of setting that allows the Fn key to be locked on?

Its a new laptop 1 week old. Just normal wifi windows updates, So past couple days, install updates I guess.

Firefox. Havent tried other browsers.

I just learned that pressing Windows key + Ctrl + F, is normally what brings up "Find Computers" and I can replicate it that way. So I see now what is supposed to bring it up. But In my case, im only pressing Cntrl + F.

Plus, is that domain error supposed to be happening in general IF I was trying to bring up the "Find Computers" Box?

Well, yes. I can replicate that here as well - Win + Ctrl + F gives me the same 2 popups:

The reason the bottom popup comes up is because of the attempt to search for computers, which it is trying to do by searching for an AD Domain service, which, if you're not connected to a Domain Controller, as in a corporate / enterprise like network, it will be disabled on your machine (just as it is on mine).

So, now we gotta figure out why pressing only Ctrl is also pressing the Win key. If you do nothing but press Ctrl, does your Start menu pop up?

@johnlgalt oh okay, that at least rules out any problem there. So that's normal.

No, pressing control key alone does nothing. Double tapping it focuses in on the mouse cursor though with a shadow. Probably normal windows thing.

If you use 2 hands to individual press Ctrl + F without touching any other part of the keyboard (aka finger type it), does it still produce that search for Computers?

If so, I'd contact Lenovo - may be something set incorrectly in their system mgmt software, or it may be a faulty keyboard.

Just for fun and giggles, I'd also create a second user account and see if the problem happens under that account.

To clarify, its random. So pressing the two keys right now with 2 hands/finger typing, does not produce the issue. It works normally.

But when the issue has happened (3 times so far), there's no way I was accidentally pressing all three keys at once, I can't even maneuver my fingers into that position without really trying because there's FN key between the Cntrl & Windows key.

Ill keep using it and see if I can notice anything specific the next time it happens. Perhaps some other combo of keys is triggering it idk

Maybe also check to see if you may have Sticky Keys enabled in Windows Settings --> Accessibility --> Keyboard. And even if it is disabled, try enabling it, waiting a small bit, and disabling it again.

I highly doubt this is the cause, as it is occurring randomly, but if it does continue to happen, even randomly, I definitely recommend contacting Lenovo.
