Apps Reinstall Built-in Apps in Windows 11

This tutorial will show you how to reinstall built-in apps from the Microsoft Store for your account in Windows 11.

Windows 11 comes with built-in apps from the Microsoft Store by default.

If a built-in app is missing or mistakenly uninstalled, you can reinstall the app if wanted.

Option One

Reinstall Built-in Apps from Microsoft Store


1 Click/tap on the link below for the app you want to reinstall from the Microsoft Store app.
2 If prompted, click/tap on Open Microsoft Store app to confirm. (see screenshot below)

3 Click/tap Get or Install to install the app from the Microsoft Store. (see screenshot below)

4 When the app has finished installing, you can Open the app if wanted. (see screenshots below)

Option Two

Reinstall Built-in Apps using winget Command



1 Open Windows Terminal, and select either Windows PowerShell or Command Prompt.

2 Copy and paste the command below for the app you want to reinstall into Windows Terminal, and press Enter. (see screenshot below step 3)

3 If prompted Do you agree to the terms? for the app in the terminal, type Y, and press Enter. (see screenshot below)

4 After a moment when the app has been fully reinstalled, you will see a notification below allowing you to Launch (open) the app if wanted. (see screenshot below)

One way to get the App GUID (used in winget command) for Microsoft store app, :
o open MSFT Store in BROWSER: Microsoft Store
o Search all applications (box near top-left) e.g., ClipChamp
o extract GUID from retrieved URL: https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/clipchamp-video-editor/9P1J8S7CCWWT?hl=en-us&gl=us

Then use winget as noted above e.g., winget install 9P1J8S7CCWWT

Hi @Brink, thank you so, so much for this post! :D I've been searching the web flat to reinstall the Windows 11 People app after uninstalling it, but to no avail. With your link above to the Microsoft People app in the Windows Store: I was able to install it, and it's finally back again! 🙌

I only use/have four of the things on that list.
Paint, Notepad, Clock and Calculator. :-)

I kilt all the rest of those things. :D
