@jumanji I bought the SSD drive in Currys. I am using the drive as a backup. Fortunately all of the data on there will be duplicated in about 4 other places so whilst I agree that it's annoying not to have got to the bottom of the issue, loss of the data wouldn't be critical.

@Ghot I think before I attempt to reformat the drive I'll wait for a reply from Western Digital - I have put a support request in and I don't want to invalidate the warranty. I'm not a techie so don't know how to disconnect the Akasa panel :unsure: as I had this PC built for me in a local shop.
