If the file was sent to you in PDF format, you should be opening that PDF file using Adobe Acrobat or any other application made by Adobe, to play it safe, in my opinion. Onedrive, such a great app but not very user friendly.

I'm a graphic designer, and I have 2 offices that I work out of, so having Onedrive is a God Send since I can work on a project at 1 office and finish or edit the same project at the other office. Sometimes I take my laptop and continue the editing remotely

MS will not delete your Onedrive account, since it is linked to your Microsoft account, period. It's another scam trying to get you, one way or another. If it's frozen as you say, your account might already have been breached
