I don't have the issue on Open Shell because I've a third party start menu. And I installed Fluent Search to look for stuff you can't find with the default Windows Search.
It sucks that you can't change the icon of a website but a workaround exists if you have Open Shell: drag the website to the desktop; change the icon to whatever you prefer and drag and drop it into your Programs Folder.
Now you will see an option to pin it to Open Shell Start Menu. An option...
You don't have anything to lose by ruling out the hardware. At least get an opinion from them. If everything checks out ok, then do a clean install of Windows.
You'd rather want to do an in place upgrade but you can't.
