    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
I'm remembering a song, from some years ago, in which was the verse,"When will they ever learn".
In all the years that I've been using Windows, all the way back to 3.11, I have never gone from one version of Windows to the next higher version by using the UPDATE process. The complaints from people who do that number into the Thousands!!!
My own, and never failing method to go from a Windows version to the next higher version is to just disconnect the old HD, connect a fresh new HD or SSD and do a CLEAN Install of the new version.
Today that new version is NEVER downloaded from MS or any of its cohorts. But, from an Independent and Trustworthy source.
Then I use ONLY Rufus to burn that new ISO to a Flash Drive for the Clean Install.

Then when I do the install of a new version of Windows, I get a Clean, Lean and mean install of Windows and none of the Crap that one gets from MS.
I know, I've said this before, but Windows 11 24H2 is the fastest Windows I've ever installed. And I virtually have NO problems with it.

Yeah, while I agree and have never "upgraded" a version of Windows myself, it's really sad. On the fipside, my MacBook Pro from 2013 went through about 6 different operating system upgrades with no problems whatsoever.

I've only used Rufus to test installing Windows 11 on unsupported hardware, but I always get the ISO directly from MS. And I almost always use the media creation tool to create the USB key.

Put him on your "ignore" list, as he stated. He has nothing to say anyway. This is the 24H2 awful thread and to tell you the truth, it is anything but awful. Mine is running solid on a unsupported PC. A lot better than Win 10.
