4K alignment of HDDs. Is there any benefit?

According to your Partition Starting Offset, your drive is aligned.

999,390,445,568 ÷ 4096 = 243,991,808 (0 decimals which I have found is not the case for all drives)

After the Rabbit Hole I entered for a couple of days (call me Alice) can I tell you that it's 4K aligned... no, I can not 🤣

As far as I understand it, any OS post Vista (maybe including) correctly partitions a drive during an install.
It's the externals that we were testing.

On Windows Vista and later versions of Windows, the default alignment at 1MB boundaries applies to all physical disks (including externally connected ones) regardless of whether Windows Setup is what creates the partitions or Disk Management is used in order to create the partitions.

When using a decent partition management tool for Windows such as the portable edition of the free MiniTool Partition Wizard 12.8, that I highly recommend, the partitions will be correctly aligned automagically also. The free portable edition of this tool can be found by scrolling down to "2. How Can You Get MiniTool Portable Partition Magic?" on this page.

And I meant to mention, a representative from MiniTool confirmed alignment using Partition Wizard, as per my own tests as mentioned in this thread, it takes but a flash of a few seconds

I was in a GoodWill Thrift Store yesterday and to my surprise they had a whole shelf of brand new computer hardware. HDDs, Modems, Routers. USB DVD drives and such. The only problem was that they were old tech. It's sad because they were still in there original and never opened boxes.

I just noticed that in the Hasleo boot environment there is an option for alignment, one is 4K. Might try it on an old spinner one day soon.
