In the UK, full fibre is quite rare due to aging infrastructure of telecoms. Most of us get a fibre/cable hybrid good for 72 mbps. I have just got a 5g phone, and jeepers, I can get roughly 250 mbps in a covered area.

Unfortunately, I get virtually no 5g in my flat - I am lucky to get 3/4g.

Eventually landline broadband will be a thing of the past.

I live in a small village about 4 miles from the Exchange. We're in a bit of a mobile reception "not-spot" where officially reception is "outside only". We do get reception indoors - we can receive texts and make phone calls sometimes (but often the calls break up). Cannot use smartphones directly for internet though, so they have to use the house wifi. But we have full-fibre gigabit internet so we are fine. The wires go through the brick walls where 3G/4G and let alone 5G don't.

I've been looking at 5G internet. I cannot get FTTP only FTTC here but good 5G mobile signal indoors, speed tests regularly return 440/56

3network do a 5g router £10 for 6 months then £20 it has a bigger antena than a phone you can buy it and return it if its not fast enough. 5g has limited but you can get 3.5 gig download on 3 we can get 500 meg on ours

I think that is a very long eventually. Here in the US, landline broadband speeds of 1 Gbps (1,000 Mbps) is almost the standard. I'm on 500 Mbps.
My 5G cell service rarely gets above 100 Mbps and I have not noticed any real performance increase over 4G cell service.

@NavyLCDR , I have used 5G using Huawei, Xiaomi in China getting near 1 Gb/s download. Have an old Delink 4G LTE router, gives an acceptable speed to browse, in case of a emergency.

Various youtube videos that have been posted show how 5G signals work and how effective they can be but sadly
5G is a few years away from doing what it should. If you are within 100 ft of a 5G Box outside and in the open and within 50 to 100 feet, signal
speed is almost at a solid 1 GB, move around the corner of a building or move down the street 1 block and your signal gets whacked in half or more and so on. Its a serious work in progress.

Here in Australia, a piece of string between two jam tins is our equivalent of high quality connections.

Pathetic poor quality all round, thanks to short sightedness of certain conservative political parties whilst in government ("Fibre optic?? What's that?? Copper wire was good enough for me as a child, it'll do you now. Why do we need high quality and high speed? What would we ever use it for in a country as vast as it is and as isolated as many communities are?"

I cut my cable and went with T-Mobile 5G internet. I was getting around 950Mbps now with 5G I get almost 450Mbps on a good day. i was paying over $100 a month for cable High Speed internet now its $35 monthly

Yeah im on 45mb/s here in Scotland, Albeit i live in the country so were on a fibre/copper combo, Its the best internet i've ever had, We used to have like 10mb/s up until maybe 2 or 3 years ago, Prior to 2018 we were on less than that! Biggest area to notice it would be in downloading large files eg games. Gaming online and streaming 4k etc etc is flawless.

My new phone has 5G and I don't see any difference between 5G and 4G. Plus the fact that 5G is hit and miss doesn't help.

Word of warning - I was testing the 5 GB speeds using OOKLA and getting 250 mbps. After 16 seconds, it had test download 500 MB. After 4 tests, I had used nearly 2GB of my monthly 8 GB data.

It would be easy to go over limit if not careful.
