Can’t connect to internet


This is really confusing because you had this issue with the previous router. So why you’re getting DHCP errors on a new installation is troubling to me.

Turn the power off at the wall for anything related to your internet. This includes the NBN Box, the router and any switches you have if the house is networked.

Leave it all off (at the wall) for about 10 minutes.

Run this tutorial on your PC then turn off your PC for the remainder of the Ten minutes

After the 10 minutes, turn everything back on at the wall, give it 5 minutes to reconnect to the NBN and for the router to establish a connection.

Turn the PC back on

Maybe… maybe run the above tutorial again after the NBN has restarted and you’ve turned the PC on again.

THEN

Open a command prompt as administrator.

Copy paste this into your command window and press enter

ipconfig /registerdns

At the end, restart your PC

OK then. Well I wouldn’’t know because I don’t change settings that shouldn’t need to be changed when the right processes are followed. I think I’ll move forward without seing any more of your replies.

Hopefully, that or something that has been posted will help Thommo. Hopefully he is following steps as presented to him.

all thats doing is setting the dns servers to google to test if his isp dns is causing issues.

If your laptop works when tethered to your phone, it shows the laptop is not the problem. It's the router or your ISP. You need to contact your ISP or go to its community forum. The latter is probably quicker!

Virtually all issues I had on WiFi were caused by DHCP or IPv6.
Have you tried to setup a static IP/DNS? If the router supports it.
Disabling unnecessary protocol, all except IPv4 might do wonders.

It honestly seems to be there is something wrong with the router. Those router and modem all in one units suck. My suggestion would be to buy your own devices separately.

But it's weird other devices in your network can connect just fine, except the laptop. Try factory resetting the entire router and reset it back up. Also see if there is a firmware update for it.

Yes, please tell us what DNS servers your router is set to use.

I wonder if your public (WAN) IP address is on some blacklists and this blocks websites the use those particular blacklists.
Do you have a static IP address?
Go to whatismyip.com and note your public IP. REboot the router and check again to see if has changed or not.

Can you find the IP address of your router? It's often 192.168.0.1. you can look in Widows Explorer under Network and then clicking on the icon for the router.
