A blank spot on screen


Ok anyone still watching I found a YouTube video re this sort of problem but as it is obviously with the young fellow running Windows 7 I don't know just what to look for in the task manager in Windows 11? Any thoughts as he just pulled up applications and there was an app called messages running and he just ended that task and away went the blank square at the top of his screen.?? Sorry the video itself would not a ttach.

Did you try a clean boot like I suggested early on?

Ok Glasscutter I think the square has disappeared and am following the rest of that tutorial. But I need to enable my antivirus again I feel naked without it.

Well I enabled a few back with msconfig but the square returned after the rest had installed so I have done another clean boot and am going to leave it at that as I am just over tis one.

Hey I think I found the problem I clean booted the machine and no square but as soon as I opened SUPERAntiSPyware app the square returned so I have uninstalled it and the square has gone away. Maybe it was some sort of message board app that was attached to the software??

Given the junk shown in an earlier post about the SYSTRAY, you need some serious learning experience about what software you should - or more aptly, shouldn't - have on your computer. Seriously.

Yep I know mate I used this software many years ago and just thought it might be a good one to have again and yes I should have been wary from the start by the in your face adverts for the premium service - perhaps that might have blanked out the whole screen LOL!!
But you live and learn eh?? :oops: Having said that it was pure luck that I found out what was the problem. Still I expect anyone reading this thread will be aware and learn of the mistake I made and not do it themselves.
