I guess I need to tell you all about my recent Internet outage and restore.
Tuesday when we were leaving the house for my physical therapy, there was a summit utilities truck in my driveway and they were digging in my ditch. My daughter had to go ask them to get out of my driveway so I could go to my appointment.
Later that afternoon after I got home, I turned on my laptop which was convenient and I had no internet. So I came in here to my big guns computer to get on line because I thought my laptop had messed up. To my surprise, my Internet was down. I still had WIFI but my computer would not connect to that. Once we managed to get a live person at AT&T the next morning to tell them my problem, my daughter told them she suspected that my line was cut. The helper questioned her severely if was she sure, did she see that the line was cut blah blah etc.! So anyway they gave us an appointment and gratefully It was for that same day from noon to 4.
About 1:00 PM The AT&T truck arrived. I watched out the window to see as much as I could because it was cold out there! The poor guy had to first go under the house to check my box which some nut head had installed that way. Think he changed the box to outside the house or I hope he did if the next person might have to check it. Backing up, he first checked to see if I was getting a signal into the house and I was not so he had to then check the box. Of course he found that there was no signal to the box either.
So the next thing I saw was that the poor guy was pulling the cable this way and that (In the muddy ditch) to make certain of the connection I guess. Or to see if it was cut. I couldn't figure out what he was out there doing, And after a while he disappeared. My aide drove up after running an errand and saw him at the corner of the house doing something.
A couple of hours later he came to the door and rang the bell. Of course I was lurking right close to open the door and tell him to come in out of the cold.
He informed me that the cable had been cut and that AT&T's $150 fee would be charged to and collected from summit!
So, multiple kudos to AT&T and staff for the prompt service and having to be out in the cold and under the house to fix the issue that could have been avoided. Thumbs down to summit utilities for sending inadequate employees out to do a simple job of fixing a leak. A little care would have avoided the whole issue. By the way, this same company summit utilities has cut my friend Mary Louise's lines twice in the last year!
By the way, my Internet is better than it has been in a long time. I wonder if those idiots had been out here before!
