Hi folks
If you have several Windows versions is there any way to change the text on the initial Windows login screen where your user account name and password is required -- it would be nice for instance to add the version of Windows being logged into for example.

I know the Windows blue boot menu shows a list and you can change the descriptions via bcdedit /set {id} description="xxxxxxxxx" but that's fiddly to give a decent description to and a confirmation at login would be far better.

Cheers

You could possibly create/duplicate the image to be selected for the 'Lock Screen' and add a Text Box to display the VM Name. Just need to avoid 'overwriting' the already used display area.

Thanks -- worth a try. If I hose it up it's on a VM so no problem if (and when) it usually goes wrong on my ist try !!! --Lucky I'm a better private pilot than a Windows technician. !!!!

Probably easiest to duplicate an existing Lock Screen image file to work on, then you can easily revert to the original. I always try make a full VM backup before 'messing' or applying significant updates, then it's easy to copy back the last working version if any changes go belly-up.
