I couldn't agree more. It's now more than 6 years I've been using only MS Defender, and I 've never had a notification of detection from it. Anyone suggesting my system might be infected because Defender is bad, every other month I scan the system with Kaspersky Virus Removal and occasionally with other reputable scanners, but nothing was ever found remotely malicious. Honestly I don't know how good Defender is with a real threat, as I believe average users are not targeted by hackers simply because there is no money to be made from them nowadays. Alternative to Malwarebytes? A reliable imaging program.

If you need an alternative then I'm playing about with RogueKiller Antimalware. Downside compared to Malwarebytes is that you need to download RogueKiller every time to update the free version, which is no hardship really, just remember to delete the folder after installing.

Yeah... Zonealarm used to be... GREAT, back in the Windows XP days.
Now, it's just so-so.
Back in the days when ships were wood, and men were iron (circa 2003 - 2011-ish)... ZA looked like this...
All it did was firewall. It worked perfectly.

It was Spybot Search & Destroy that had the hidden game (Knights Tour), and the Immunizations.

This was the last great (and free), version of JV16... jv16pt_setup1.3.0.195
It sort of worked on Win 7, and absolutely doesn't work on Win10/11
