AMD Chipset Driver error....Not an AMD system?

I was recently updating all my AMD systems with the newest Chipset Drivers. 7.04.09.545. All went well until my last system I attempted to upgrade. For some reason when I run it up pops up a Dialog saying the install is quitting because this is not an AMD system. So though maybe something wrong with this particular download, so download it again. Same error. So thought I would click on some of the older Chipset Drivers I had archived. Same error. Funny because these previous drivers installed fine. Okay scratching my head now.

Went back to AMD and thought I'd try their utility to auto detect the needed drivers. Get the same error message when trying to install that utility.

So it appears something is glitching with this specific system that makes the installer think it's not an AMD system.

I just updated the latest Microsoft Update Preview updates. Also just updated to the latest MSI Bios. No other issues. I'm not exactly sure where to begin looking for what might be causing this one. System Information clearly shows this is an AMD system.

Yes, only from AMD directly.

Strange, if you specifically got the ones for the X570 chipset.

I had no trouble with the TRX50 version, within the past few days.

Certain settings or apps like AV might interfere with it, it can not be helped.
AMD Chipset Drivers are not the brightest. I installed this version yesterday.

They rely on bunch of scripts, 11 has recently deprecated VBscript. When playing with it, I got the same message like you.

And look at that, after some persuading, it installed just fine.

I enabled optional feature VBscript, WSH, and some services, plus restart and it did the trick, I wonder if I am able to repeat it.

The latest BIOS was only released a week ago, maybe it has a bug!

MSI are currently only offering the chipset driver version 6.10.22.027 from 2024-11-05 - this could mean that later drivers have not been sanctioned for use with this board.

I will give that a try and see if it works for me.

Update: Doesn't seem to work in my case.

In this case I didn't do the Bios update until after all the issues cropped up. I then accomplished the Bios update and retried.

I have found that OEM board manufacturers always lag behind AMD in their chipset drivers.
The current driver v7.04.09.545 is for a number of chipsets including AMD B550 and AMD X370.

ASUS still shows chipset driver v6.05.16.221 for the ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING WIFI II and PRIME X370-PRO motherboards.

I've always used the latest chipset drivers directly from AMD. My motherboard manufacturer (Gigabyte) hasn't updated the chipset drivers they offer for more than a year.

Maybe sticking with the latest chipset driver from Gigabyte would have been a good idea, but I've suffered no issues so far. The security updates in the latest AMD drivers may not be that vital.

The problem with getting laptop drivers from the manufacturer is they stop updating them not long after the laptop is no longer being sold.

This is not really about the specific Chipset Driver that is causing this issue. It's the Updater simply will not run due to something causing the installer to get confused about whether it's an AMD system or not. As I pointed out I have the previous Chipset Drivers archived. They all worked fine when they were initially applied in succession of release. However those no longer work any more either.

And as mentioned the motherboard vendors simply stop providing updated Chipset Drivers after the motherboard has been out a while. That is why it is always better to source those drivers from AMD directly. Also FYI....I updated 2 B450 motherboards, 1 X470, 1 B550 and 3 other X570 systems without any issues. Also a brand new X870E system.

And as I pointed out it's not just the Chipset Driver installer that is failing. It also fails when trying to installing the AMD Auto-Installer utility with the same error.

This is probably a stupid question, but what does CPU-Z think that your system is? (It's not very informative for mine, but it does state that it's an AMD system.)

I didn't follow your first post properly. I'm ashamed to admit that I thought that your problem was probably PEBKAC.

I haven't the faintest idea of what changes in Windows (or elsewhere) could prevent the AMD installers from recognizing the MB.

FYI...VBScript was already installed on the suspect system. Per guidance above from @TairikuOkami that didn't work(for me) either. Now I haven't tried to uninstall and then reinstall it however. Might give that a try. I'm debating whether to actually reload the OS from scratch anyway.

I just installed the chipset driver 7.04.09.545 on two of my computers. It installed OK on each one.
