Antivirus For IPhone?

I have an iphone that will need a replacement screen soon. The other thing is I want to know what antivirus do you use for iphone ios? Normally I am careful with what I click on and I someone had sent me a link to an address when I asked for it and I clicked on it. I am pretty sure that person didn't post a malicious link... but the issue is if that person isn't careful with their phone like most people aren't... then couldn't they have malware/virus on it and then send it to other people? I want to know what can I do now to check for any virus or malware on my iphone before I start logging into banking sites and things like that on my iphone.

Now if I were to factory reset it, obviously that would make it clean. However, is there a way to check for malware of any sort now and then remove it? I heard there is no antivirus for IOS because it isn't needed? There seems to be a lot of free ones in the ios app store like avast, malwarebytes and even kaspersky? I use paid kaspersky total on my windows laptop.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I am pretty sure most people are not careful with what they click on their phone right? Like say you have a friend send you a link and you click on it and even though they aren't trying to send you a link with malware... if their phone has malware, is there concern to your iphone?

You won’t need AV for any iDevice as they’re locked down, in any case any AV software offered on the App Store doesn’t include virus scanning capability.
The only time a user would need AV is if their phone is jailbroken.
I’d recommend using an ad blocker which will prevent fake virus Popups & such but don’t waste money on AV softwar/apps.

MalwareBytes Pro does a mobile version for iOS or Android but you can't do an actual scan. It just sits there and protects Web and Calls/Texts and does Ad Blocking. It also offers a VPN for an extra charge. Not sure about other brands.

Mac users don't run an AV because both desktop and mobile MacOS is Unix-based. Nobody runs AV on Linux.

Install an ad-blocking DNS like NextDNS on your iPhone and you're going to be secure from web nasties.

Well what if you already clicked on a link from someone and not sure if it has malware or virus or anything like that? Is it safe to log into online banking and things like that though? So there is no way to scan the phone for malware of any type?

From Which. Using the Bank's genuine app is as secure as possible.

The biggest threat to banking security comes from using a compromised device. And this applies whether you're using a computer or a smartphone.

Although phones are more easily lost or stolen, you can mitigate the risk by registering for Google 'Find My Device' and Apple 'Find My iPhone' so that it can be located, locked and even wiped of data remotely if it's lost or stolen.

It's difficult to plant a keylogger in an Android or iOS device (software used to track every key you press and potentially steal usernames and passwords).

But mobile banking isn't risk-free – fakes can turn up in app stores and malware does exist that specifically targets mobile phones. Always download bank apps from the official app stores as these are vetted by Apple and Google, and check the reviews carefully.

Keep your software updated as manufacturers and app developers will usually release software updates which contain security patches and new security features.

Make use of any security features offered by your bank or built into your mobile phone:

  • Protect your mobile Add a unique Pin to your Sim card; register for Google’s Find My Device or Apple’s Find My iPhone; and disable preview notifications. These flash up messages even when your phone is locked.
  • Instant card freezing All of the banks we tested let you temporarily block your card in-app without having to call or visit a branch, except The Co-operative Bank and Virgin Money.
  • Block certain payment types If you bank with Barclays, Lloyds or Starling you can also block other purchases such as: payments made outside of the UK; remote purchases made online, in-app, over the phone and by mail order; payments to gambling websites and betting shops.
  • Real-time notifications These notifications make it much easier and quicker to spot fraudulent transactions. High-street banks are working towards this but most are still a way behind the digital challenger banks.
  • Caller verification Only Barclays and Monzo offer security features designed to help you spot phone scammers at present. If someone calls claiming to be from Barclays, you can ask them to send a secure notification to your Barclays app via 'app ID'. If you're a Monzo customer, check the 'Privacy & security’ section of your profile and ‘Monzo Call Status’ will show if someone from the bank is genuinely on the phone to you or not.

I am not talking about fake apps on the app store with apple. I mean like if someone sends you a link and you click on it... and that link could be malware or trojan or keylogger that tracks what you look at and what you type on your phone. Is that possible or not?

With windows, you could use kaspersky total and those paid antivirus or microsoft defender and check for these things but what about an iphone?

You don't need AV on an iPhone/iPad because the Apple OS is a walled garden. If its jailbroken, you need one because you're outside the Apple ecosystem.

Your only real threat is ads and you can install NextDNS as a system-wide adblocker because ad block apps only work on Safari.
