Does anyone know from experience what "Apply media information changes" in Windows Media Player Legacy means? Google's AI answer seems a bit unclear to me.

I haven't seen that but believe the information can be seen by right-click of a song file, Properties and looking at the Details tab holding data about Album, Title, Artist, etc.

I don't know about that, but I find the feature when I click on "Organize."

Here is what Google AI said about this:

In WMP Legacy, "Apply media information changes" forces the program to write all changes made to the media library (like artist, title, etc.) to the actual media files themselves. It essentially pushes any edits you've made within WMP to the tags of the audio or video files. This is important because sometimes WMP might not automatically write these changes to the files, and this feature allows you to ensure the changes are reflected.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • Manually forcing updates:
WMP Legacy might not always update the media files with the changes you've made in the library. This function ensures that the changes are pushed to the files immediately.

And this seems like a good feature because about a 1/4 of my album cover art images (out of over 800 albums) somehow got lost, and right now, one by one, I'm having to find album art images on Google or DuckDuckGo for around 200 album covers (not fun), and if this feature would prevent this from happening in the future, I'm all in. Plus, for some reason, album titles get changed, which caused an album to be divided into two places, and I have to manually made sure that the album title is the same (even a comma or lack of a comma in the title can do this) in order for an album to be listed as one album instead of two.
