Never been in favour of this bargain basement motherboard as others have called it however, since I bought the PC, I have had problems. Seems to be when I open a browser. I occasionally get the blue screen of death with NETIO.SYS failure. I believe this motherboard has a dual connection and can use WI-FI. Never had a WI-FI desktop before. I think it might be getting it’s knickers in a twist. Is there a setting for the motherboard to force cable connection to the router. Any help would be much appreciated.

It looks like you're having a driver conflict.
This can be caused by a 3rd party program or even a Windows update.

I usually use this tutorial to stop MS from including drivers in their Windows Updates...

Once that is done make sure to reinstall the network drivers, direct from Asrock.
Also make sure you have the latest chipset drivers.

As for Zonealarm... it used to be a fantastic program, way back in the day.
But now it has so much junk added to it... who knows if it's having an effect on your network drivers.

There are better 3rd party firewalls these days...

Also... try to stay away from any Windows Optimizers, any all-in-one driver updaters, etc.
Once you do get this fixed... start using 3rd party backup software.

Here are some things that may be useful...

And last but not least, I gave you ten cookies for filling out your computer specs... :-)

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
I am a home user so don't understand
Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Windows Update>Manage updates offered from Windows Updates.

I can find my way around the registry. Is Evorim a good choice.

I would also like the benifits of configuring the wall.

I have had to use a laptop while my computer is being looked at and have had a similar problem with the wi-fi access but no zone alarm here. could my router be getting old? Moving soon to Virgin media fiber to the house with theire router.

Most tutorials have registry "patches", that you can just download and double click, and reboot, to apply.

As for EVORIM and Tinywall... they are both configurable by the user.
More or less... they both notify you when something tries to connect to the internet, and then gives you a choice to... allow or deny... etc. They do what Zonealarm used to do, well, back in the day.

Believe me, I was a Zonealarm fan, back in the day. Here's my ZA firewall settings from... 2011.
If I were to dig out an older hard drive... I'd have ZA pics from the very early 2000's. :D

Things were much better, back in the day. Back when ships were wood and men were iron. :-)

@Pablo56
Currently, I'm using Bitdefender Internet Security (paid), AV/firewall.

In the firewall I set it to "block all", and then go back and allow those few programs I want to access the internet.

000000 Bitdefender Firewall Settings.png

However, I'm considering getting rid of Bitdefender. It's getting to be like the modern Zonealarm.
It now has 13 modules, of which I only need or want... three.
I only use the AV, the firewall and Threat Defense in Bitdefender.

I have a feeling that, after a while, programmers feel that if they don't keep changing or adding things... they'll get fired.
This ofc, messes up a lot of great programs. :(
