Autocomplete in file explorer search bar not working

In file explorer in the little search box it used to show previous search terms when you clicked on the box or started typing in the box. That no longer functions. I have tried everything. I have enabled it as suggested but that part never works. It autocompletes pretty much everywhere but there. I use search a lot and that was a very handy thing to have, I would really like for that to work again. Any suggestions? I have edited the registry yet, was hoping to avoid having to do that. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.
