I am moving to a new computer and want a standalone version of Office because my internet is often down for days. I expect to choose between 2019 and 2021, each Pro. On my current computer I am using 2019 Pro, but I got it from a third party so it probably won't move. I am struggling to get my current 2019 set up in a good way for me. All of the cues are subtle and in a faint font. I put some options on the bar under the ribbon and apparently I can have words (such as Save and Save As) or words plus icons, but not just icons.
When I read about these versions, on 2021 I see that it requires Ethernet connectivity--no problem, but often my internet is down. Is there any difference between these two versions in what works and what does not if the internet is down?
Also, I see mention of the difference in visual presentation between these two version, but not images of what they look like. (that something follows the Windows 11 design scheme is no help to me.) I need whichever one lets me set up my screen with the options I want handy and stable and has the boldest lines, fonts, etc.
I am not interested in collaboration or AI. I appreciate spell check, and can put up with the grammar. When I sit down with Word, I want to write. I do want the Windows voice recognition, which my Windows 10 computer cannot handle, probably because it is too slow. I would appreciate advice.
