OK, now we're getting somewhere. So, it is not showing because it actually is not there.

Since the machines are not identical, I suspect it has something to do with the OS install - are you using the ones that came on the machines, or did you install them yourself?

So, from the top - items not showing are actually not installed on PC2. Which means that something is weird.

What was the original OS on both machines?

W10 Pro. But both are refurbs, so there may be sthg screwy about PC2 that's not screwy on PC1.

I have 35 also. Hence my reply lol. It's about what you have installed, and you can install additional components from Settings --> Apps --> Optional features --> Add an optional feature (click the View features button) - which is why I have 35, but do not have either of the PowerShell ISE items you both do.

So that is probably where you have to look - but I *suspect* that PC2 has a hidden Windows install config file that was used when you installed Windows onto it, so it configured it differently than the other PC.

See if there is a Component Services in that Optional features section or not.

Also, below that is the More Windows features, which opens up the old Windows Features dialog, which will have other things also.

And yet Component Services in not in either list lol.

No, Home does have it. Home can use it to connect to other computers, it's just incoming connections that Home doesn't support.

My most recent clean install of a few weeks ago has 35 items.

Actually, I just found out that there is a commandline for it as well - see if you can run dcomcnfg in either a command prompt or in Powershell

Wrong. Just remembered I installed both from Download KB5020044 MSU for Windows 11 v22H2 64-bit (x64) - 267.7 MB.

My 35 are different. Only a few, but still, different. Some are from Optional features, at least one is from Windows Features, and yet Component Services should be there as a standard item.

OK. So it is installed, but for some reason it is not finding it by the long name.

Did you have *any* issues when installing? Did both already have a key pre-installed when you installed them? Did you wipe the HDDs / SSDs completely before installing?

@glasskuter's note is interesting. 36, eh? So I've got 32 on my better machine, and 15 on the other. With all these numbers to crunch, I'm beginning to feel like an accountant.

@johnlgalt News: I went to Settings, Apps, Optional Features, per John Galt suggestion, and found XPS Viewer way down there, so I installed that, and all-of-a-sudden I have 16, no longer 15, in PC2's Windows Tools. Wella, wella, wella.

No, not that I recall, except that for the not-quite-compliant, I had to do the appraiseres.dll trick. Yes, both had keys already. I didn't wipe them because I wanted to save my W10 installations of apps, so I did the upgrade without pre-wiping.

Okay, enough. I sincerely thank all of you who came in on this. As I look at the differences between the (now) 16 and the 32, I find that there's not much I want to use in the longer list, and for the things I may sometimes use, there are other ways to get there.
