Blue screen when activating G-sync with current nvidia drivers.

I have an RTX 4080 Super and I have recently noticed blue screens when launching some old games like portal 2 and skyrim, it happens exactly while the game is loading, the error is caused by the "nvlddmkm.sys" driver.

I have tried many things, one of them is that I used DDU to uninstall the Nvidia driver, I rebooted, I let windows install an old version of the driver (I think it was 551 or something like that) and with that version I could not replicate the screenshot error blue when starting the games.

On the other hand, with the latest versions of the driver (installed after cleaning with DDU) 566.36, 566.14, 566.03, 565.90, the blue screen problem occurs when launching skyrim, but it only occurs if I activate gsync in the nvidia control panel, if I disable this, it does not happen with the latest version of the driver.

But, with the old version of the Nvidia driver that automatically installs Windows it does not happen even with gsync activated.

I have also tried with another monitor I have (2560x1440P connected by DP) and this does not happen, it only happens with my main monitor (a Samsung G8 Oled 3440x1440 connected by HDMI).

I use windows 11 pro 24H2, my power supply is 1200W.

Thanks.

The logs reported BSODs and Live kernel events related to the Nvidia GPU.

These may have included black screens, hangs, or freezes in addition to BSOD.

All BSOD recorded the same Nvidia GPU driver.

Some options are:

a) Replacing the GPU driver with another version but from what you've reported (previous driver testing) this is a hardware problem

b) Testing another motherboard port

c) Swap testing the GPU card (Nvidia or AMD)

Some thoughts.....when running DDU it is advisable to let the system power down completely including shutting off power at the power supply. Not sure why this might help but Jayztwoents has a video about this. Try using different video cables(DP and/or HDMI) Otherwise scratching my head.
Firmware update for the monitor?

I just tried with a dp 1.4 cable that comes included with the monitor, and I haven't been able to replicate the problem. Maybe it's due to a bad HDMI 2.1 cable? The problem is that the only way to make sure would be to buy another micro hdmi 2.1 cable.

With a DP 1.4 this error does not occur, but I have tried with another HDMI and the same error occurs. If it is a hardware error, why doesn't it happen to me with a much older version of the driver? (Although it does happen to me with the last 4 versions of the driver)

Windows 10 has different driver requirements (more liberal) whereas Windows 11 must be DCH.

A clean install Windows 10 allows both environments to be tested.

Google AI

Code:
To run Windows 11, all new devices must use "DCH" (Declarative, Componentized, Hardware Support Apps) compliant drivers, meaning that

 manufacturers are required by Microsoft to develop and provide drivers that follow this new standard for compatibility and updates on Windows 11;

essentially, all new drivers for Windows 11 should be DCH drivers.

Key points about DCH drivers and Windows 11:

Mandatory for new devices:

Microsoft mandates that all new hardware for Windows 11 must utilize DCH drivers.

Improved compatibility and updates:

DCH drivers are designed to be more easily updated and provide better compatibility across different Windows 11 versions.

Universal Windows Platform (UWP) based:

DCH drivers are built to function on UWP-based editions of Windows, including Windows 11.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

The problem is that it only fails when launching certain games with gsync enabled, not with stability tests.

I have reinstalled Windows 11 from scratch and I still get the same error, the curious thing is that it does not happen with the Nvidia driver that preinstalls Windows 11 (551.61)

Consider clean installing Windows 10 for testing purposes.

Ok, I just installed Windows 10 on the secondary SSD (which was empty) so as not to lose the installation and configuration of my main Win10 system.

I have configured win10 with basic drivers, I have installed the latest Nvidia driver and I have not been able to replicate the error in windows 10.

What should I do now?

Try to duplicate what you had experienced with the prior installation.

Please run Windows 10 continuously for one week.

Please do not use the other installation during the testing period.

If you must use it the plan the testing for two weeks.

For the new installation run tuneup plus (links in post #6) > post a share link

Then post a new V2 for the new installation.

Plan to post a new V2 for any unexpected shutdown and restart with or without BSOD.

Ok, I'll do that, tuneup plus I should run it after using it for a week right? In addition to that, both the Nvidia driver and Windows 11 have been updated.

And now when I launched Skyrim (which is how it gave me a blue screen) the screen goes black, it restarts the monitor several times (sometimes this has happened to me with the G8, since it is a smart monitor) and when I manage to return to the game it appears as a small box in the upper left corner with the image of Skyrim, and in the rest of the screen the normal menu, and when you move the cursor, it moves but leaves a trail that does not disappear.

Aside from the mouse leaving traces, sometimes with this monitor both the box in the upper left corner and the fact that it remains black until I force the monitor to restart has happened to me. I don't know if it's a problem with the monitor or the GPU.

I tried to get it out as best I could, I tried the same test again several times, and it didn't produce the error above or a blue screen. The strange thing is that after the error I mentioned above, I went to the event viewer and several "LiveKernelEvents" appear and one of them a "BlueScreen" although it is strange because this time at no time has my PC restarted. Although it is true that I never saw a "blue screen" as such, my computer simply restarted and the logs said that it was a BlueScreen.

I also had an "application hang" crash once trying to start the Nvidia control panel. I don't know if it's related.

Thanks.

Please run tuneup plus soon after the installation to have optimal crash settings.

Then post a new V2.

Then run for 2 - 3 days without stressing the computer.

After 2 - 3 days attempt to reduplicate the problem.
